Success: Even Eagles Need A Push

| Posted in Personal Development |

14

Even Eagles Need A Push One of my “Better Bunch” friends challenged me to write a blog post every day this week, Monday through Friday.

I’m always up for a challenge, but let me tell you, that was not easy. I had to put some things on the back burner, make some sacrifices and really stretch my limits, but in the end I did get it done.

“Success is nothing more than a few simple disciplines practiced every day.” _ Jim Rohn

When I told my husband about this challenge on Monday, the first words out of his mouth were …“Are we getting dinner this week?” (That kind of reminded me of when he received a surprise phone call on a Sunday and went off to Saudi Arabia Monday morning during Desert Storm. The first thing I could think of was, … “who’s going to do our taxes?”)

But anyway … Yes, I still fed my family this week.

What did this challenge accomplish?

For one, it made me grow as a person. I gained more confidence when I stepped out of my comfort zone. Oh, wait a minute. Did I step out or was I pushed? =) In any case, the results remain the same. (Thanks so much for the push!! It’s very much appreciated.)

As an added benefit, my Alexa ranking dropped quite a bit this week and I gained quite a few new visitors as well.

By the way … I wrote a post a little while ago …“Why You Should Surround Yourself With Successful People.”

Well, that’s EXACTLY why. When you hang out with successful people, they lift you up to their level.  They help you stretch your limits and they will also give you that much needed push.

I couldn’t have accomplished this challenge this week without the loving support of my husband. So here’s a big hug and thank you for always believing in me even if I don’t.

Here’s one of my favorite motivational movies. I invite you to watch Even Eagles Need A Push. It is only 3 minutes long.

Yes, indeed, even eagles need a push. They need to learn to spread their wings and fly.

Challenges are nothing more than stepping stones to help you grow. Are you stepping up to the plate?

Can you relate? Has anyone ever helped you stretch your limits or even pushed you out of the nest? If so, we’d love to hear your story below.

And, as always, if you liked this post, please share it with your friends of Twitter and Facebook.

Hey Ilka,

That is cool that you wrote a post everyday this week. Check out the Alexa. :)

I stretch myself everyday to put out good quality content. The only reason why I do this. Because I know it doesn’t take a whole lot to stand from a crowd.

Ask yourself what am I willing to do that the rest of the folks are not. Most of the time is just going the little extra step.

This is great content here. I’m typing this out on my iPhone so I won’t be able to share it thru twitter or FB. I’ll do it on Monday. Great Job!

Chat with you later…

Hey Josh,

I certainly stretched myself this week. No pain no gain right? Or there’s another quote that goes something like this…

“Do what others don’t so you can have what others won’t.”

Thanks for stopping by and thanks for your support!!

Have a great weekend!

Hi Ilka,

Great post! I do love the video.

We do need to be pushed sometimes, and it doesn’t feel good even when we know it’s good for us.

But when we spread our wings… there’s nothing quite like it.

I push myself by accepting challenges, like you did. Ones that I may not really WANT to do, but I know I SHOULD do. So I accept them just to push myself to do it.

Thanks for such an inspirational post!

Hi Susanna,

Yeah, I love that movie too. It’s so inspirational.

I know exactly what you mean by accepting challenges we may not want to do, but should do.

We can’t stay stagnant. We do need to grow. Things that don’t grow will wither and die. It’s no different with us humans.

Have a great start into your new week!

Successful people are willing to do what unsuccessful aren’t – Simple formula.

When I first started writing a post a day my head nearly exploded.

Now if i don’t write a post a day I feel like my head will explode.

The pay off is by doing that I have meet great people, become part of “The Better Bunch” and my business has picked way up!

Now I am comfortable here. It is time for the next challenge…..

Hi Dwayne,

Great formula! I love it! It’s very true.

Haha, I can relate to the “head exploding.” I kept asking myself, ‘what in the world will I write about?’

I didn’t just want to write for the sake of getting through this challenge. I wanted to continue to provide valuable content to my friends and visitors.

I hope I will feel as comfortable as you soon, so I can move on to the next challenge.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!

Hey Ilka,

Great post. Loved the video and I’m always happy to hear about people pushing themselves to a new level. I always think about what do I need to do, rather than what do I want to do.

Take care,

Hi Ken,

Thanks for dropping in and leaving your thoughts! It’s very nice to meet you.

That’s a great attitude, thinking of what you need to do instead of what you want to do.

But honestly, isn’t it so much more fun to do what we want to? :)

Have a great weekend!

Ilka

P.S. You must be connected to Melisa, or I called you by the wrong name when I left a comment the other day on “SuccessfulNewYou.”

WOW! What an amazing video. We do all need a push sometimes. We need to have someone push us off so we can realize we CAN fly. As parents, it’s not easy to push our kids so that they will soar, but when we do, it’s amazing what they can realize they do. I’m ready to push my 10-year old son this next weekend because he is ready, but my husband is not supporting me on this idea. He is not ready to let go and let him soar. I think once we allow him to be 24 hours without us at a campsite with the boyscouts, he will come back a changed boy with renewed self-confidence and self-esteem. I will totally share this video with my husband. Thanks for sharing this post and the video.

As for me, I have been pushed a lot by my parents, and it sure was not easy. I didn’t feel I was ready at all, but it’s helped me be more self-reliant and self-confident through the years. I now love encouraging and pushing others, hence the reason I became a healthy lifestyle coach ;)

Hi Mirdza,

Thank you for coming over and sharing your thoughts!

I really hope this video helps your husband. From the sounds of it, he needs more help than your son :)

Parents always want the best for their children, that’s why we keep pushing. Hopefully our kids will thank us someday :)

Enjoy your weekend!

Hi Ilka,

It’s cool to read you were able
to put out a post every day.
That is my ultimate goal.

I was doing a video everyday
but started to slack, new week
and new goals, gonna tackle it
harder.

Great video, I am a sucker for
eagles, they are beautiful. I can
relate, it was the third night in a
row that I fell asleep with netbook
on lap.

Have a great weekend

Hi Tommy,

I definitely can relate. Trying to picture you asleep with your netbook in your lap :) You have a good excuse. You have a toddler in the house. That alone will do it, LOL.

Hey, I’m rooting for ya…Remember that “Little Engine.”

Have an awesome week!

A lot of benefits we can gain if we step out of our comfort zones. Perhaps we may need a push, but if we are decided to explore unknown ground prodding may not be needed. I always believe that we are not here to stagnate, rather to explore who or what we really are. Without taking the challenge life presents, we will not discover our purpose. :-)

Hi Walter,

Very well said. There’s a whole new world out there. We just have to step out an explore it.

Thanks for stopping by and sharing your insights!

Have a great week!
