Follow Up to A Degree in Network Marketing

| Posted in Internet Network Marketing Business |

Degree in Network Marketing I thought I needed to do a quick follow up to my previous blog post “A Degree in Network Marketing” mainly because Len Clements, Founder & CEO of MarketWave,Inc, who is working with Bethany College on the development of this project left me a couple of links with his comment to more information on the project, which I would like to share with you. Thanks Len!

If you missed my previous post, you can catch it here, “A Degree in Network Marketing.”

Basically I was writing about Bethany College intending to offer a four year Degree in Marketing with emphasis on Network Marketing.

You probably have a lot of questions about this like…

What’s the benefit of taking this class when I can find education
and training in Network Marketing out there for free?

What will I learn in this course?

Who is going to teach this class?

How much is it going to cost?

Is there an online version of this course?

You will find most if not all the answers to your questions by listening to this 49 minute interview Len Clements did with David Frost, Assistant Professor of Bethany’s Business & Economics Department who is spearheading their network marketing projects.

http://www.MarketWaveInc.com/RadioShow.asp

This has never been done before in the history of network marketing an industry that is 79 years old. Never before has a fully accredited undergraduate college offered a Degree in Network Marketing. And if Bethany College can pull this off and succeed at this, I’m sure a lot more colleges and universities around the country will follow in their footsteps.

Just think what this can do for our industry.

Please make sure you listen to this interview. I would love to hear your thoughts in the comment section below.

To Your Success,

The Enlightened Networker

P.S. As always, please share this with your friends and followers on Facebook and Twitter and don’t forget to give it a +1 if you found this information valuable. Thank you, I really appreciate you.

Hey Ilka,

Went over to read the article, (system is acting up so would listen to the audio later), and totally enjoyed the compelling argument for mlm education, especially as it has to do with commitment.

When he talked about the huge investment, in terms of time and money, people make when buying franchises, I had to nod in agreement. It’s true that one of the reasons some quit so soon is cos the $25 they used to join the company, and I’m becoming wary of those small startup kits these days Ilka, is something they can spend for breakfast. So no big deal if they quit. No one invests 4yrs and hundreds of $$$ on something and walk away just like that.

Alot more people need to read articles like that.

Thanks Ilka!

Hi Tosin,

Thanks for taking the time to write such a great comment! I agree with you, $25 is not much of a commitment. It’s very easy to just walk away from it. On the flipside of the coin, sometimes it’s all people can afford to get started.

Sorry your system was acting up. I know you will like the interview once you get to listen to it. I actually listened to it twice :)

Have an awesome day!

Hi Ilka!

I just listened to the interview. Thanks for sharing it.

It all really boils down to getting the right mentor and equipping you with the right attitude to prepare yourself not just to get rich financially but richer as a person when it comes to family and community.

I think Bethany College has realized that the best way to enter into this kind of business is being surrounded by people who’ve “been there, done that” and could really learn from their wisdom and experience.

I’m just wondering, though, if there’s really a need to go into college for that or is it going to be enough just getting your own mentor from among a host of exceptional mentors that are already opening their mentoring services online?

What do you think?

Hi Elmar,

As you and I both know there’s much more to network marketing than just the “marketing” part. Growing as a person is a huge part. And absolutely, this class needs to be taught by mentors who’ve “been there and done it.”

What I also like about the course at Bethany College is that they will incorporate a practicum. I think “hands on” experience (with all the ups and downs”) is critical and that can’t be taught in a class room.

To answer your question…”if there’s really a need to go into college for that or is it going to be enough just getting your own mentor from among a host of exceptional mentors that are already opening their mentoring services online?”

My opinion … If you know how and where to find a GOOD mentor, no, you don’t need a college course. But someone that’s brand new to the industry (for example an 18 year old right out of high school) won’t know who they are and where to find them.

I think this whole college course in network marketing thing is a good thing and if they are successful at Bethany College it will catch on nation wide …Maybe even world wide. And, you don’t have to go for the entire 4 year course. You can just go for the online certificate. (At least that’s how I understood it.)

Thanks for stopping by and leaving your thoughts!

I just think it’s great that people are taking the industry seriously now. It’s about time that the educational establishment caught up with the new job market and started to offer courses. Many of the most popular jobs today didn’t exist 10 years ago and yet the education system is always slow to catch up.

Hey Ilka,

Times are a changin’. It is definitely a good step to at least offer this for people to look in other areas they previously didn’t take too serious.

Hi Ilka,

Checked out the interview which provides a whole lot more information.

What I do know is that people learn differently and some may be better suited to serving an apprenticeship as most of us have and some may learn more effectively in a formal set up.

There is no qualification to guarantee your success in any business but at least it will be available for those who want to learn in that way.

Thanks for the follow up Ilka.

Hi Marcus,

I agree with you, people do learn differently. Oh, did you know, there is a practicum included in the course. So people can get “hands on” training along with the more formal setting.

Enjoy your week!

I love that network marketing is getting this sort of mainstream recognition. I only worry that a college might get the curriculum all wrong like they do with marketing in general.

Hopefully the text books will at least be written by wildly successful network marketers.
