Failure Is Not An Option? – It Better Be If You Want To Become A Network Marketing Pro

Just think about it … If failure wasn’t an option we would never have heard of any of the following individuals. They all failed. Some of them miserably before they reached success. For all of them failure WAS an option!
Walt Disney …. Was fired from a newspaper because he “lacked originality and had no imagination.”
Lucille Ball … had been dismissed from Drama School with a note that said, … “Wasting her time. She’s too shy to put her best foot forward.”
Harrison Ford … was fired from Columbia Pictures and told he “was never going to make it in the business.”
Michael Jordan … was cut from his high school team saying he “wasn’t good enough.”
The Beatles … were turned down by Decca Records saying, …”we don’t like your sound and guitar music is on the way out.”
Abraham Lincoln … failed in business twice, had a nervous breakdown, his fiancé died and he was defeated in eight elections.
Thomas Edison … was told that his inventions were of “no practical use.”
I could keep going but I think you get the point.
All these people failed. But they never gave up trying. And because of that, all of them eventually succeeded.
Think back to when you were a baby…
When you first started walking, did you give up after falling on your butt a few times? No, of course you didn’t. You got right back up and tried again to the cheers of everyone around you.
What has changed?
So alright, maybe nobody is cheering you on anymore. (But maybe you’re wrong about that one. Your peers are watching and they want you to have success. Especially if you are part of the “Better Bunch.”)
Maybe FEAR has set in. Fear of Failure!
But think about what F.E.A.R really means … False Evidence Appearing Real. Do you think FEAR of failure stopped any of those people above? They were not even thinking about that. Not for a split second. They failed and they pushed on.
So, is failing in Network Marketing an option?
Absolutely! It better be! But only if you let failure stop you from trying again have you really failed.
“Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again more intelligently.” _ Henry Ford
Maybe you have heard of the failure rate in network marketing being 97%. That’s 97% of the people who join network marketing who give up because they failed at one time or another and didn’t push on. They quit. And that made them fail permanently.
So, are the 3% that made it just lucky? No, luck has nothing to do with it. They succeeded because they didn’t let failure stop them. They used it as stepping stone, pushed on and never quit.
What would have happened if Thomas Edison just would have given up in his efforts to find a stable filament to make his electric light bulb invention work? He tried thousands of different versions and none of them worked. His comment: “I have not failed. I’ve simply discovered ten thousand ways that don’t work.”
So go ahead, embrace failure!
Because, for one, it’s going to happen anyway. Unless you stop trying all together. And two, it’s the only way for you to get to where you want to be. And if you persevere then you will write your own network marketing success story someday and people will know your name too.
There is no success without failure. The only time you have really failed is … if you quit. Then failure becomes permanent.
To Your Success,
Ilka Flood

Hi Ilka,
I love this post! Failure is inevitable. It’s going to happen, but it doesn’t have the be the last page of the book.

Hi Susanna,
You’re right. Failure is going to happen no matter what you do. But I love how you said … ” but it doesn’t have to be the last page of the book.”
Enjoy your weekend! You’re a little ahead of us

Hi Ilka,
I love this. It’s just like when I figure skate. I’ve fallen, been bruised, and sore like crazy for days. Do I give up? Hell no! I love it!
Same goes with my biz. Yes, I mess up, yes I fail at times, I’m human. Learn from the mistakes and move forward.
Have a wonderful weekend!

Hi Twila,
You must know all about ‘falling and getting back up.’ Falling on the ice hurts like heck. I know. Good for you to get right back up and try again! That’s the way to go in life as well as in business.
Have an awesome weekend!

Hi Ilka,
It just goes to show that those stars you mentioned are as humans as the rest of us. They just never gave up on their dream.
I love Henry Ford’s quote. He himself failed countless times before forming the Ford Motor Company. Failing forward is a term I remind myself of all the time. The more you fail forward, the more you learn, the more you succeed.
Thanks for the inspiration,
Wayne

Hi Wayne,
You’re totally right. “The more you fail forward, the more you learn, the more you succeed.”
Here’s another quote I really like…
“The formula for success is quite simple: double your failure rate.” _Thomas J. Watson, Sr. (founder of IBM)
Have an awesome week!

Hey Ilka,
This is a powerful post! Too many individuals just sit at the side lines and watch people go right by them. The main reason…afraid of failing!
I tell people that they must grab fear by it’s horn and steer it where you want it to go!
Chat with you later…

Hi Josh,
Thanks for coming by! I agree with you, you can’t let fear stop you. I loved the part in the movie “Avatar” where the main character, Jake Sully, conquered that huge viscous bird (I believe it was called Taruk) and used it to fight off the enemy. That’s conquering fear!
Have a great week!

Hey Ilka,
This is a very powerful post. You really were able to drag the scary subject of failure out of that dark corner and shine a bright light on it.
When you understand what you fear, you are able to see that most of it is simply in your mind. Get over that, and your name will be echoed with the great people you have shared with us in this outstanding post.
You have really given me alot to think about, I truly thank you for that
Cheers

Hi Carl,
You are very welcome! Most of what we fear is not real. Once we realize that, we are halfway home.
And… the other thing we must realize is that failure is not the end…unless we make it permanent. (Oh, I said that already.)
Have an awesome week!

Hi Dwayne,
So glad you’re back safely. And you are very welcome!
You’re absolutely right, failure is the best way to learn. Failure is nothing more than another opportunity to succeed. Fail forward!
Have an awesome week!

Great Post Ilka!
I will not accept failure. My long term goal sits on the other side of the mountain. The journey I take accomplishes the smaller ones with the ultimate in site.
Just remember never lose site of what is over that mountain. Things happen in life and the other side of that mountain is not as clear. So push harder and never lose site!

Hi Tommy,
Thanks! Great way you put it! I’ve heard of obstacles in the road to success, but never of a mountain. That really pushes your belief system.
They say, “seeing is believing.” But only those who believe FIRST will really see.
Climb that mountain, Tommy!
Have a fantastic week!
