Invasion of the Face Snatchers

Posted in Facebook, Networking, Twitter

Jason Better wrote a post the other day about the ‘Invasion of the Face Snatchers’. You see them all over the social media world.  Take a stroll through Plaxo, Twitter or Myspace and you see them, the ‘faceless’ people. Even on Facebook. Uhm, it’s called FACEbook. So put your face out there. Especially if you are networking for business.

Most social networking sites (if not all of them) let you upload a profile picture. Usually that is very easy and in the event you should get stuck there should be a help menu that will guide you through how to do it. Or just ask one of your friends on the site how they did it.

But not only on social media sites you find them, even the blogosphere has its share of people without a face. I used to be one of them. Not because I didn’t want my picture out there on the comments I left, but because I had no clue how to do it. Well, if you don’t know how to do something … just ask. So I did ask Jason just shortly before he posted about the ‘Invasion of the Face Snatchers.’ He told me about a little site called  Gravatar.com

Don’t worry, you don’t have to be a techie to set it up. It’s really easy and they even have a little video that shows you how. In just a few minutes you can ‘have a face.’

Put your face out there. Especially on your profiles. People are much more likely to connect with you and accept your friends requests when they see your smiley face.

Just think about this scenario…

You go into a store and there behind the counter stands a clerk with a ski mask asking how he could help you. You’d be out the door in a split second.  Wouldn’t you? I get shivers down my spine just thinking about that. Pretty creepy!

Remember, people do business with people they know, like and trust.

Looking forward to see your smile.

Oh, and by the way, moosey on over to Jason Better’s Blog you will find some great information and meet some cool people there.

FEARS – What are you afraid of?

Posted in Network Marketing, Rejections

F= Failure
E= Embarrasment
A= Abandoment
R= Rejection
S= Success

FEARS, we all have them. I know I have them and you do too. And they are costing us a fortune. Why? Because they are holding us back from accomplishing what we want to accomplish. What we COULD accomplish. Ships in a harbor are safe, but that’s not what they were build for. They were build to sail.

What are our FEARS as they pertain to network marketing?

F= Failure

There’s the Fear of Failure. We are afraid we will fail in whatever we set out to accomplish. Because of this fear we often set our goals very low. We want to stay in our comfort zone. Be safe. However, this keeps us from growing.

E= Embarrasment

Although we are very excited about our new business opportunity, oftentimes we don’t want to share it with our family and friends because we are afraid what they may think or say about us.

A= Abandonment

There’s the Fear of Abandonment. We may be afraid that our sponsor will leave us and go to the next deal. Or we are afraid that the new person we just sponsored may quit on us. Or, that the team we have build over many months may jump ship and go someplace else. This may rock our belief in our company and stop us dead in our tracks.

R= Rejection

The Fear of Rejection is a big one and one I personally have struggled with for years. Until I learned that that my prospects didn’t reject ME but the opportunity I was presenting. It either wasn’t right for them or the timing wasn’t right. It wasn’t personal. As soon as I learned that, I no longer had any problem with rejections.

S= Success

The Fear of Success is another big one. Oftentimes we are afraid to succeed. Afraid to get to the next level. The “what if’s” start creeping up in our thoughts. What if…I’m not going to be a good leader? What if…I will fail my team? What if…I can’t handle the money I will be earning? (Yeah, as strange as it sounds, some people are afraid of earning 10K, 20K, 30K a month. They’ve never made that kind of money and they can’t imagine how they would handle that.)

The bottom line is, if you don’t get rid of your FEARS you won’t be able to grow. And most certainly you won’t reach your dreams. So, get rid of them!

Jerry Chen (BuildAMagneticNetwork.com) flew to Austin last week to do an interview with Mike Dillard of Magnetic Sponsoring. He asked Mike the question, “What would you do if you had to start over from scratch?” Watch the video below to find out Mike’s answers.

This is a high-value video. The information it contains is absolutle priceless. No matter wether you are a newbie to the network marketing industry or a seasoned networker you need to watch this. Have a pen and paper handy and take notes. I know you’ll come away with some great gold nuggets like I did.

I think the two biggest things you’ll take away from it, are…

1: What Mike Dillard would do if he had to start all over again from scratch.

2: The 3 steps that have allowed him to go from waiting tables, to building an 8-figure business, while most of the competition failed or quit.

Mike Dillard is a person who does whatever it takes to succeed. He knew his weaknesses in the early days of his career and he took the necessary measures to correct them. Not everyone would go to the extreme like he did, but  the experiences he gained through it made him the successful entrepreneur he is today.

Click the screenshot to watch the video and find out some of his secrets to success. (Please be patient while it loads. It’s a big file.)

Be a Magnet – a True Magnet

Posted in Networking

2

By becoming a source of leads for another person, you will become a magnet for your own. Have you ever heard the expression, “the more you give, the more you get back?” Well, it’s true.

Next time you are at a networking event why don’t you ask people what their perfect customer or business associate would look like and then ask for their business card so in the event you come across such a person you can refer them back to them. (Of course really be sincere and only do this if you really have the intention of referring people back to them.) In return, most will ask for your card as well.

Be different than most people who attend those networking events like, business breakfasts or luncheons. Most of them go there with the sole purpose of pushing their own business. Stand out from the crowd and be a true Giver. It will come back to you manifold.

For example: Later when you talk to your friend, Joe, who needs a new roof, you hand him Bill’s card which you collected earlier at a business breakfast. Bill is very pleased about his new customer and repays your kindness by sending you customers in return.

Or Sue is looking for some liquid vitamins and you refer her to Lucy who just happens to be with a company that sells them..and so on.

Remember, we are farmers, not hunters. If you spread enough seeds…and nourish them you will reap a great harvest.

“Why Doesn’t Everyone Else Think Just Like I Do?”

By Bob Burg

The sages asked: “Would you be offended if, when walking into a room, you noticed that no one else has a face exactly as yours? Why then would you be offended when others don’t have a belief system exactly as yours?”

Interesting point, isn’t it? So often, we’re upset because somebody didn’t do something, act a certain way, or handle a situation as we would have handled it. Have you ever said to yourself, “I can’t believe he did it like that–anybody else would have done it like this!” (You probably have never done that…but I know I have.) Actually, “anybody else” would not necessarily have done it just as you or I would have, but we genuinely do think they would.

Have you ever been upset because a prospect didn’t respond with total excitement to a particular aspect of your business opportunity that you believe is a major benefit? It baffles you:

…that while you see “financial freedom” as the end-all be-all, he only wants to know more about the health benefits of the products.

…that while you are going on and on about how much more energy people are discovering in themselves after taking the company’s flagship supplements, she stops you and asks how long

22 Tips to help your business grow this year

 1. Focus on what the prospect wants not what you want.
 2. Recruit through their eyes not yours.
 3. Use the word “you” at least 4 times. Use it more than you use me or I.
 4. Paint word pictures. Use phrases like…”What would it be like if…
 5. Don’t use Network Marketing Lingo.
 6. Double the size of your Warm Market.
 7. Listen closely to what your prospect is saying.
 8. Always tell the prospect why you are calling. You need to be real.
 9. Bring value to your opportunity. Let them know the reasons why you joined.
 10. Don’t recruit. Connect their hearts to the hope and possibilities. Hype comes from the head. Hope comes from the heart.
 11. It’s not about hype it’s about hope. Hope for a better future. Enlighten their lives. WIFM (What’s in it for me) the radio station everyone is tuned in to.
 12. Be in the presentation not just at the presentation. Be sincere.
 13. Let the prospect ask questions.
 14. Be focused.
 15. Use their name at least 3 times in the first 3 minutes. People love to hear their name. People need to know you have taken an interest in them.
 16. Follow up. Don’t chase your prospect. You’re not a dog. Show your leadership by following up with them, but don’t chase them. Get them talking again. Make a friend. Ask them what they like so far. Ask if they have any questions about your opportunity.
 17. Don’t lose your old contacts. Keep in touch with them. Timing may not be right for them right now.A great system to keep in touch with your prospects and customers. It is also a powerful system to get referrals.
 18. Use the phrase…”If this is righ for you…”
 19. Be forward focused. Use phrases like…”This is a new year. Have you ever thought of having your own home business?”
 20. Always setting the next steps. What do you do next? Show them their next move. Be the Pied Piper.
 21. People don’t follow what you say or do but who you are. Be genuine. Stay in your confidence level.
 22. Always thank your prospect for their time. No matter what. Always ask for a referral.
