Truth be told, Arnold Schwarzenegger became famous because of his muscles and his movies, and with three boys in the house we sure watched a lot of those. However, it’s not so much the muscles or the movies that impressed me about the man, but rather his immense wisdom. It’s no surprise that he knows the secrets to success.

I know people always make fun of his accent, because after all these years that he has been living in the United States it is still very strong. But behind that heavy Austrian accent is a very smart man, and a very successful man. Not only in the world of sports or Hollywood but also in business and politics.

So I think you would agree with me when I say, when Arnold Schwarzenegger shares his secrets to success he speaks with authority.

While scouring YouTube for inspirational and motivational videos the other day I came across Arnold’s “Six Secrets to Success Speech.” In it he shares 6 rules that when followed will lead to success. They are very simple, to the point, and I’m sure you’ve heard them before.

Without further ado here they are…

Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Six Secrets to Success

1. Trust Yourself!

2. Break Some Rules!

3. Don’t Be Afraid to Fail!

4. Don’t Listen to Naysayers!

5. Work Your Butt Off!

6. Give Something Back!

I encourage you to watch this short 4 minute video and listen to what Arnold has to say in detail about each and every one of these secrets to success.

Was I correct in assuming that you have heard all this before?

Well, all this wisdom that was just shared with you doesn’t do you any good if you don’t act on it. One of my favorite quotes about taking action is this one by Mark Twain….

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things
that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines.
Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails.
Explore. Dream. Discover.”

You only have ONE life to live. So listen to the little voice inside of you and trust your gut. If you want something go after it.

As Arnold says…”None of these rules work unless you do.” Take his six secrets to success to heart, work your butt off and you surely will see results.

When you really think about it, and I’m sure deep down you already know it, but what is really holding you back from the success you desire is fear. Am I right? So how do you overcome fear?

To answer that question first of course you will have to pinpoint exactly what you are afraid of.

In network marketing that could be a variety of things. For example: fear of rejection; fear of talking to strangers; fear of picking up that 500 pound phone and present your opportunity to somebody you don’t know, or worse somebody you do know well.

To tell you the truth, making cold calls has always been my weak spot. I don’t like it and I haven’t done it in years. Personally, I don’t think it’s a very effective way to be prospecting because even if you are a master at it, the people you bring on to your team most likely are not.

But even if you market your network marketing business online in social networks such as Facebook, or LinkedIn, eventually you will have to take the conversation offline and that means you will have to pick up that phone to follow up with people.

So how do you overcome that fear
and pick up that phone?

There’s really no other way around than to just do it. So get over it, pick up that phone, start dialing, take a deep breath, and start talking.

When you hang up, after the conversation, you will feel….”Oh, that wasn’t so bad. Actually, that was pretty fun.”

Little girl overcomes fear of first ski jump.

I came across this incredible video of this little 4th grader’s first ski jump. She is standing up on that ramp looking down at people way below her that seem like tiny little ants. Through positive self-talk she’s trying to overcome her fear.

She’s absolutely TERRIFIED! You can hear it in her breathing and you certainly can hear the trembling in her voice as she assures herself that she can do it.

And then suddenly she’s off. At first you can still hear that fear but half-way through the run, fear gives way to the excitement of the moment…and then jubilation sets in as she completes the run.

You’ve got to watch this!…

This is one brave little girl!!

I don’t know if I could have been as brave as her at 9 years old. Most likely not. I probably would have messed my bridges up on that ramp.

The reason I shared this is because this little girl gave a great example of how to overcome your fear.

Through positive self-talk, re-assuring yourself that you will be alright and that you CAN do it…and then just doing it.

No matter what our fears are, oftentimes they are all in our head. They are holding us back from what we could become. I don’t know about you but I don’t want to look back on my life someday and think, what if?

One thing’s for sure, I’ll be thinking about this brave little girl a lot. She’ll be my poster girl for overcoming my fears in the future.

No, it’s not from me. Actually, it has been in my possession for so long that I don’t even know who the original author is. But nonetheless I have to share it with you.

This piece of content is so powerful (in my humble opinion) that I wanted to share it with you in a special way. Therefore I am not only sharing it with you here on my blog, I also made an Infographic that you can embed on your own blog if you like.

So, here we go…

10 Principles of Success

You have, right now, exactly what you want!

Life is a journey, not a destination. Make the most of every moment.

1.Investment
Give and You Will Receive. Get into the habit of giving more than you are paid for. If nothing else, give praise. Catch someone doing something right. What you invest in others will come back to you 3 fold in the future. Invest in yourself as well; you are worth it. Get into the mode of continuous learning and improving on the person you are today. Only then will you have the chance to be the person you want to be tomorrow. In business, you get paid two ways: one, in cash; two, in experience… Thake the experience first; the cash will come later. Remember the expression is give and take; not give or take.

2. Exclusion
Get Rid of What You Don’t Want to Make Room for What You Do Want. Who do you want to be? What positive traits do you want to acquire? Pattern yourself after the people who you admire. Declare war on the negatives, particularly, I can’t. Be an optimist. Do you really want to be a pessimist? State the problem. State the solution. And never, never, never mention the problem again. Only focus on achieving the solution.

3. Creation
Decide What You Want And Write It Down. Write down the 5 things the most important things you want to happen in the next month, the next year, the next 5 years. If you take all the people in the world, only 13% have any real goals at all; they are 5 times more successful than those who don’t. 3% of the people in the world take the time to write down their goals. They are 10 times more successful than those who have their goals only in their minds.. Most people fail because they never really set goals in the first place. If you don’t know where you are going any road will take you there. Purpose is the engine that powers our lives . Specific written goals are the tools that make purpose specific.

4. Visualization
Get a Clear Mental Picture; Fill It with Emotion; and Hold On to It With All Your Life. Whatever the mind of man can conceive, he or she can achieve.

5. Action
Do It Now! FEAR – False Education Appearing Real. Fear of rejection, fear of unknown, and also fear of success; Ultimately, our fear of the changes we have to make in ourselves will be what holds us back from our dreams. LUCK — Laboring Under Correct Knowledge. Once we know what to do, prepare for it, and start to do it, we begin to have what others call good luck. The best reason for doing the right thing today is tomorrow. So whatever you have to do, do it today. Timely, consistent hard work makes luck.

6. Faith
The substance to Things Hoped For; The Visualization and Belief in the Attainment of Your Desires. There is no substitute for the will to win and knowing that you can do it.

7. Command
Whatever You Speak Out of Your Mouth, Will Happen. Your mind is the most creative as well as the most destructive force in your life. A true story: A Russian railroad worker was trapped in a refrigerator car overnight. He wrote a final good-bye to his family as he started to shiver and get colder. They found him dead the next morning stiff as if he was frozen to death…only the refrigeration in the car was not working and there was no physical reason why he died. His mind convinced him he was freezing to death, and he died. The mind cannot tell the difference between real experiences and ones that are vividly and repeatedly imagined. So next time you say something mean, spiteful, rude, nasty, or destructive of yourself or someone else, ask yourself, is this what I really mean and want to happen? If not, then don’t say it.

8. Enthusiasm
Give Everything You’ve Got, To Everything You Do! Instill passion in every aspect of your life. It makes a huge difference in the outcome.

9. Self-Discipline
Do What Needs To Be Done, When It Has To Be Done, Whether You Like It Or Not. Be a master of detail and follow through.

10. Persistence
I Will…Until. Persistence will do what talent will not. Winston Churchill gave one of the greatest speeches of all time after World War 2. He said three words, three times and then exited the stage. The words were, “Never Give Up!” “Press on. Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful individuals with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent.” Calvin Coolidge, President of the United States and repeated by Ray Kroc founder of McDonalds. You will hear the word NO 116,000 times in your lifetime. Keep going anyway. You only fail when you quit.

Summary of the 10 Principles of Success:

Whatever you vividly imagine, ardently desire, sincerely believe and enthusiastically act upon, must inevitably come to be.

Maintain a total balance in your life…physical, family, financial, professional, recreational, social, spiritual, mental and educational. A well-balanced life is a joy and worth the living.

I found this great video below a couple of days ago where Tyler Perry talks about how to focus on just one thing and then believe in yourself to be successful. The words he said touched my heart at the very core so I knew I just had to share this with you all.

Now focus and belief are areas I struggle with myself occasionally and I know I’m not alone. But both focus and belief are two of the very key ingredients to success. Success in anything for that matter.

What do you visualize when you think
“Focus on one thing?”

I visualize this…

When our boys were just kids they went out into our cul-de-sac one day and did a little experiment with a magnifying glass and the newspaper they found lying in our drive way. I’m sure you can guess what’s coming.

They angled the magnifying glass so that the sunlight would totally concentrate in the middle of the lens and the beam would create a very small area on the newspaper. All of the sun’s energy was focused on that one small area of the paper and before long it was on fire.

(Unfortunately our boys were curious if that experiment would have the same results on grass. So a short time later they tried it out in the gulch near our neighborhood. Luckily they didn’t set the whole neighborhood on fire but just a little area of the grass. But boy did they get in trouble for that!)

So you see, when you really just focus on ONE thing and put all of your energy in it then you will set it on fire.

Believe in yourself with every fiber of your being.

The same goes for your belief. You absolutely have to believe with every fiber of your being that you will succeed. Think about it, if you don’t believe in yourself, who will?

I know it’s hard sometimes, when you don’t see results although you have been working so hard.

You’ve been planting the seeds, you’ve been watering them, however you don’t see anything grow. It’s very easy then for doubt to creep in, isn’t it?

When that happens to me, I think of the bamboo story.

You may know the story. It goes something like this…

See when you plant a bamboo seed in the ground you don’t see anything grow for the first year, yet you need to water it constantly or it will die. You don’t even see anything grow in the second year, or the third, or the fourth for that matter. But if you don’t keep watering it, it will surely die. So you do.

Then finally in the fifth year you will see a tiny little sprout appear from the earth. That is of course, if you hadn’t given up on it in the meantime.

So if you kept up your belief and didn’t quit, and kept watering that little seed you will be nicely rewarded as this little bamboo sprout will grow to 100 feet high within the next six month.

Now the story of the bamboo is really a great example for believing in yourself because, just because you don’t see anything grow doesn’t mean there is nothing going on.

You see, during those 5 years of seemingly nothing happening, that little bamboo seed grew strong roots that gave it what it needed to survive.

The moral of the story is, that just because you don’t see any results means that there are none. So keep planting those seeds and keep watering them and eventually you will reap the rewards of your labor and create the success you desire.

And now on to the great video who was the inspiration for my blog post for today.

Let Tyler Perry show you how to …

Focus on just one thing and then don’t stop believing in yourself!

The Donkey in the Well" width="200" height="133" />When I first started out in my blogging venture I often shared inspirational stories. I know, I haven’t told one in quite some time. But, there will be one coming today which was inspired by a comment that was left on my last post by one of my regular readers, Tim Singleton. (Thanks Tim for the inspiration for this blog post!)

Tim shared his disappointment about a prospect he spent money and a lot of time on, educating him about his product and then in the end, lost to his sponsor. The prospect’s reasoning, Tim’s sponsor was a “bigger deal.” Huh? Are you for real?

Sound familiar?

If you’ve been in the network marketing industry long enough, I bet it has happened to you too at least once. I know it happened to me before.

Yes it stings. Your ego gets rattled a bit, but you can’t let that get to you. And for God’s sake, don’t let self-doubt creep in. It has nothing to do with you.

When someone passes you by and joins with your sponsor instead, because “he’s a bigger deal” there’s nothing you could have done. Don’t worry, karma will take care of it. What goes around comes around.

Besides, every big shot started out as a little shot that kept on shooting.

But on to the story I was going to tell you….

The Donkey in The Well

One day a farmer’s donkey fell into a well. The poor thing cried piteously for hours as th farmer tried to figure out what to do.

Finally he decided since the animal was old, and the well needed to be covered up anyway, it just wasn’t worth it to retrieve the donkey. So, the farmer invited all his neighbors to come over and help him. They all grabbed shovels, and began to shovel dirt into the well.

All the other farm animals were very upset about this, because the donkey was their friend. But they discovered there was nothing they could do to help him. At first, when the donkey realized what was happening, he cried horribly. Then, to everyone’s amazement, he quieted down. A few shovel loads later, the farmer finally looked down the well, and was astonished at what he saw.

With every shovel of dirt that hit his back, the donkey was doing something amazing. He would shake it off, and take a step up on the dirt as it piled up. As the farmer’s neighbors continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal, he would shake it off and take a step up. Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well, and trotted off!

Takeaway from this story: Life is going to shovel dirt on you. All kinds of dirt. But each obstacle, road block, and yes, lost prospect can be a stepping stone. What happens to you isn’t nearly as important as how you react to it. We can get out of the deepest wells just by not giving up!

Shake it off, and take a step up!

There will be many more detours on our way to success. Taking the “scenic route” can be a great learning experience. I am a strong believer that everything in life happens for a reason. Sometimes we find out what the reasoning was for certain things that happened in our life, and sometimes we don’t.

So, never let self-doubt creep in. Keep believing in yourself…
and keep on shooting!

To Your Massive Success!

As you might know I took the entire month of December off and I had an absolutely marvelous time. I even was able to scratch some things off of my bucket list. (Yep, at my age you need to start living a little, haha.) I also created some new holiday memories by going to see my favorite musical, West Side Story, performed live on stage. What an experience!

And…I finally got to see the beautiful Christmas lights downtown Denver a treat almost 20 years in the making. The last time I was downtown around Christmas a couple of years ago I visited the Denver Christkindl Market, but missed the lights.

Now we are in a new year. 2012, what will it bring?

I don’t know about you but I have given up on New Year’s resolutions. My reason? I haven’t kept them yet and I hate the feeling of having broken a promise, especially a promise I made to myself.

I believe it’s much better to set short-term goals on our way to our final goal. What do you think?

I came across this incrdible video full of wisdom by Will Smith and one part especially struck me…

“You don’t set out to build a wall. You don’t say I’m gonna build the biggest, baddest wall that’s ever been build. You gonna say, I’m gonna lay this brick as perfectly as a brick can be laid and you do that every single day. And soon you have a wall.”

That’s exactly the same thing you do with your short-term goal, your daily tasks that bring you to your desired destination.

You do them every day. You do them as perfectly as you possibly can. You don’t miss even one single day and soon you will have reached your final and ultimate goal.

May this year be perfect for you, full of blessings and may you accomplish what you set out to do, and may it be your best year ever.

To Your Massive Success!

“Success starts and ends in the mind. Period.”

It’s really true! Whatever mood you start your day with sets the tone for the whole entire day.

For example this morning my mood was pretty good when I got up. But then life set in at the Flood house. My youngest wanted to check his email and started to complain about the slow internet. The oldest got mad at the stuck door handle when he tried to leave for work. One thing led to another and within minutes I was in a bad mood.

Thinking that today was the day I needed to write a blog post I found myself in a real pickle. “How will I ever get something positive and inspiring down in that kind of mood”, I thought.

And then, wham, my quote popped in my mind ….”Success starts and ends in the mind. Period.”

I changed my attitude and look what happened.

To Your Massive Success!

Not a single day goes by where I don’t use them or add a couple of new ones to my collection. Motivational quotes have become a part of my daily routine.

Why are quotes so popular?

Well, for starters they inspire, motivate, encourage and empower us. They give us hope, they teach and at times they even make us laugh.

“Bessie Braddock (to Winston Churchill): Winston, you’re drunk. Churchill: Bessie, you’re ugly. But tomorrow I shall be sober.”

Sometimes they are the golden words of great leaders leaving behind their wisdom in just a few simple words. Other times they are the empowering and encouraging words of successful people we are looking up to.

Walk into any doctor or dentist’s office and most likely you will find some pictures with quotes hanging on the walls. My husband, who recently was called for jury duty even found quotes hanging on the walls of the court house.

Why?

Because people want to be surrounded by positive thoughts. With all the negativity around us we are clinging to those things that are positive, that give us hope, encourage us.

If you have a MLM home based business like I do, then you know, that there will be times when things don’t go smoothly. The road to success is paved with many obstacles and challenges. It takes courage, persistence and perseverance to stay the course.

Quotes are the perfect “motivational candy” I need to keep me going, keep me motivated and inspired when I hit a rough patch either in my personal life or in my business.

I would like to share 25 of my favorite motivational quotes with you.

Here they are in no particular order. It will be really hard to pick just 25…

“That’s why when people say, ‘Zig, motivation doesn’t last’ I say… ‘Bathing doesn’t either, that’s why I recommend it daily!” _Zig Ziglar

Like I said motivational quotes have become part of my daily routine.

I watched Michael McMillan’s “Pink Bat” movie the other day. It’s about turning problems into solutions.

As I was watching this little movie I was thinking … Are we looking at problems the wrong way?

I know, as you know as well, there are always two sides to each coin.

A pessimist sees a glass half empty. An optimist sees it half full.

A pessimist sees a problem. An optimist sees and opportunity.

What if the problems we see aren’t really problems at all, but just unseen solutions instead?

How would it change our life if we would see problems in a positive light rather than in a negative one?

What would happen if we welcomed problems as new opportunities, which most of them really are?

I wanted to share this little movie with you today. And once you watch it, you may see things a little bit differently.

Just think about some of the problems you are facing right now and see if they are not just unseen solutions.

To your success!

Here’s an amazing story to illustrate my point for today on how to stop getting ready to get ready and instead take immediate action with the tools already available to you. You know without action your network marketing business is not going to grow. Au contraire. There has to be constant and consistent action to keep it alive. Massive action taken will even put it on turbo charge.

But anyway, let’s move on.

I heard this story told by Roberto Monaco who is a great story teller and public speaker. Oh and by the way, he was the top producer in the Anthony Robbins Company for 5 years straight.

Without further ado, here is the story. I hope you will enjoy it as much as I have.

The Little Dog and the Lion

There was this family on vacation in Africa and they had a little dog with them.

Somehow the dog got loose and disappeared. The family was devestated because they thought their little dog was lost forever. They searched and searched but they couldn’t find him.

Meanwhile that little dog had run into the bush. He was really scared because there were a lot of skeletons and dead animals along the way.

Suddenly he heard a loud roar and as he turned around he saw this huge lion charging at him. “Oh my gosh! What am I going to do? This lion is going to eat me alive if I am not resourceful and do something quick.”

He looked around for something and saw this dead animal. “I have an idea,” he said to himself. With the lion still charging at him, the dog turned his back, pretended to eat the dead animal and started talking to himself in a loud voice so the lion could hear him …”Hmm yum, yum. This is so good. I love this lion that I just killed and am eating for breakfast.”

The lion stopped dead in his tracks. “Wow,” he thought, “this little dog killed that big lion? I better not get anywhere near him or he is going to kill me too.” And he escaped.

A monkey up in the tree saw and heard the whole thing. He swung from the tree and followed the retreating lion.

“Hey lion’” he said, “I saw the whole thing. That little dog is a liar. He didn’t kill that lion. It was already dead. He was playing a trick on you only pretending to eat it so you wouldn’t attack him.”

Now the lion was really angry. How dare this little dog to make such a fool of him. “I’ll kill him and eat him,” he said, and with the monkey on his back went back to where the little dog was.

The little dog saw the lion charging at him again. This time faster and much more angry. “Oh boy, I’m in trouble now. That monkey must have squealed on me and made the lion really mad. I don’t stand a chance of survival if I’m not resourceful with the tools I already have and do something quick.”

As the lion gets really close and ready to jump on him, the little dog turned his back to the lion and the monkey and said real loud… “Man, I hate that monkey. I told him half an hour ago to go and grab another lion for me to eat and he’s taking too long.”

The lion heard that, looked at the monkey and killed him.

Take away…

The morale of the story is…You have to be resourceful with the tools you already have and use them to your advantage.

Oftentimes people are waiting for new tools to come out. New websites, new presentations, new marketing systems or whatever, instead of using the tools they already have and taking immediate and massive action.

Getting ready to get ready is getting you nowhere. While you are sitting there waiting for the latest and greatest with all its bells and whistles the competition is going to pass you by.

Take immediate and massive action with whatever tools you have available to you …right now.

To Your Success…
