Blogging For Business? | Always Put Out Quality Content

If you are a business blogger you may find some value in the little story I would like to share with you today.
It’s a little story or anecdote about Henry Kissinger. If you don’t know whom I’m talking about, Dr. Henry Alfred Kissinger, a German-born American served as United States National Security Adviser under President Richard Nixon in the 1970s.
Well, let me start with the story and then I tell you how this relates to your network marketing business. Or any business for that matter.
The Kissinger Report
Henry Kissinger asked one of his aides to write a report. After he finished it, the aide presented the report to him for approval but Kissinger told him, “you can do better,” and handed it right back to him.
So the aide went off and rewrote the report and then again handed it to Kissinger for approval.
Once again Kissinger told him, “you can do better.”
And once again the aid worked on the report to improve it.
When he handed Kissinger the report for approval the 3rd time, Kissinger said, …”thank you, now I will read it.”
Listening to that story – by the way, my husband told it to me – I realized two things.
1) Dr. Kissinger was German-born as I am as well. We Germans are very meticulous. Everything has to be just so.
2) He knew that the first, or even the second draft his aide handed him had room for improvement.
So how does this relate to you as network marketer or as a business blogger in particular.
You always want to put out your very best work. If you blog for business, whatever content you put out directly reflects back to you. So you want to make sure you give out valuable content and you want to be consistent at it as well.
Before you push the “Publish” button, read over your content one last time and make sure, that your content is well written and free of any spelling errors. Well, at least not too many.
Like Mark Twain says: “I don’t give a damn for a man that can only spell a word one way.”
To your success,
P.S. You don’t have to share this story with your friends on Twitter or Facebook. But if you do, I sure will appreciate it. Thank you very much!

Hi Ilka,
I love this post!
I alway try to think that all I write on my blogs and everywhere in internet will stay there forever and everybody can read it.
And if I still feel good after thinking of this, then I press the button and share it with the world.
Be well

Hi Volker,
It’s great to ‘see’ you here. Welcome to my ‘home.’
Very good advice! Because… absolutely… as soon as you click “publish” it’s out there for the whole world to see. And… it will stay there forever. So, if we don’t want our grandchildren to see it, we better NOT click that button.
Thanks for stopping by and have a fabulous weekend!

Very good point you make here Ilka. Everything we put out there is either building or destroying our personal brand so best we take extra care with everything we release.
Have a great weekend.

Hi Marcus,
Right on! We’re either building or destroying our personal brand. Who wants to end up with egg on their face?
Great point!
Have a fabulous weekend!

Right on point with this post Ilka, we really should keep the quality level of our content high. Our readers desire the best we can deliver. As yes, it is a reflection on the blogger.
Thanks for always providing great content Ilka!

Hey Ilka,
Really good. Sometimes we just want to rush things and get that post finished, but I’ve been thinking… does it really matter if we press that publish button before midnight? Is it so important to be mentally relieved that you have a new post today, rather than tomorrow? Probably not, it’s more important to make it good and iron out the bugs.
Thanks,
Wayne
P.S. And yes, I know just how meticulous Germans can be

Hi Wayne,
Thanks for stopping by!
While it is important to post on a regular basis – because your visitors expect it after they’ve visited your blog for a while – it’s much more important to put out quality content. And yes, you can always iron out the bugs later. At least that’s my thoughts.
Have a great week!

P.S. You know us Germans, huh?

Great story Ilka,
I also find that if I read my post out loud, I catch a lot more errors than when I don’t.
Thanks, this was a fun read.

Hi Ilka,
What a great story. I never heard of this before.
It’s a great illustration how important the value of what we are putting out there is. Sometimes what we think we are putting out is helpful. Perhaps it needs to be reviewed.
Imagine what kind of quality could be put out there then.

Hi Ilka,
Awesome Kissinger story, and so true
99% of the time you won’t get it right on the first take. It takes at least 1 – 2 re-read’s to deliver a product which is consistent with your best work.
Thanks for sharing the powerful reminder!

Hi Ryan,
You’re right. Very seldom will you get it right the first time. That’s why “Quality Control” is so important.
Thanks for stopping by! Great to meet you!

Hey Ilka! This is a great post!
I like how Kissinger said, “you can do better.”
We always try to read our articles several times before posting but your post today makes me want to post a big sticky note on my desk that says “You Can Do Better”!
Love this!
Have a blessed day!

Hi Melisa,
Almost missed this. I apologize.
You must be a sticky note fan like me, LOL. I have sticky notes EVERYWHERE. Even in the fridge with the note “Don’t touch! – This is dinner.” Have to do this, because my kids eat anything in sight
And yes, I believe we can always “do better.”
Have an awesome day!

Hi Ilka,
Loved this post. This story was new to me, but I always believe we should only share our very best of anything when we’re putting our name on it.
This is a great reminder and lesson.
Thanks for sharing.

Hi Ken,
I totally agree. We should always thrive to give 100%. Once it’s out there, it’s out there. And we don’t want it to come back to haunt us.
Have an awesome weekend!

(P.S. This comment – and Melisas – must have taken me at least a dozen tries. Kept getting the dreaded 500 error.)
