Fun way to get backlinks

Did you know that backlinks increase your page ranking in search engines?

So, the more backlinks you have pointing back to your blog the better off you will be.

There are many different ways to build backlinks.

But today I will show you a way that is not only very easy, but it’s also a lot of fun. And an added benefit is that it is totally FREE.

Build backlinks with blog comments.

Yes, you read that right. Blog comments are a great way to get backlinks.

Here’s how to do it …

Find some blogs that you like and/or are relevant to your niche and you start commenting on people’s blog posts.

TIP: It’s best to comment on blogs that have a lower Alexa ranking versus a higher one. Because a lower ranking means that the blog receives more traffic. (You do want people to read your comments, don’t you?)

And here is why…

When you leave a comment on a blog you get to leave a link back to your own blog. A backlink. It’s usually linked to your name. So, do leave your full name when you leave a comment, because this also helps with branding yourself.

While commenting, leave something of value behind. Don’t just say, … “nice article” or “nice post.” If you give value in your comment your chances of getting your comment approved by the blog owner are much higher. And remember, never, ever, spam.

So go ahead, leave me a comment below, and besides a backlink I will also give you some blog love back.

How do I do this?

Well, I have two plug-ins installed that give my readers back some blog love when they leave me their comments.

The first one is “CommentLuv”, which shows a link to the commentator’s last blog post.

The second one is called “Top Commentators” and it shows … well, you guessed it… the top commentators for the Enlightened Networker. Thanks Ken & Melisa West for your awesome suggestion!

Anyhow, now you know of a fun way to get free backlinks, increase page rank and build relationships with other bloggers at the same time.

Have fun!

To your success,

Ilka Flood

Hey Ilka,

Great job with this article. It’s important to create backlinks for a blog. The more backlinks you have out there the more your blog will be able to hold itself up with the competition.

I like how you said visit blogs with lower Alexa ranking. That is a true statement.

Chat with you later…

Hi Josh,

Well, you’re a master at this. I learned a lot from you.

And while it’s true that it’s better to comment on lower ranking blogs, I do occasionally comment on blogs that are a bit higher up there…just to spread some blog love around people I personally know.

Thanks for stopping by!

Have an awesome night!

Hey Ilka,

Two awesome plug-ins. It’s cool to see that you installed Top Commentators.

…and CommentLuv is awesome too.

You know that I love both of these ;-)

Have a great day!

Hey Ken,

Thanks for sharing “Top Commentators!” I think it’s an awesome plug-in, and giving back to those who take the time to comment. I always like to show my appreciation. So that’s a perfect way to do that.

You and Melisa have an awesome evening!

Hi Ilka,

I enjoyed your post. An important point you raise, especially if you are leaving comments on blogs that have a lower Alexa ranking than your own is to ensure you leave a decent comment. It’s the least you can do in return for the back link.

Hi Marcus,

I agree! But I would leave a comment of value no matter what… Because, it reflects back to you also. But yes, you’re right, especially if the blog you comment on ranks lower than your own.

Have an awesome rest of the week!

Hi Ilka,

I hadn’t heard of the top commentors plug before.

This is an excellent post. I get asked all the time, and really, comments play a HUGE part. Bloggers should never under estimate them.

Make it a good one!

Hi Susanna,

You’re right, comments play a HUGE part. Too bad I didn’t realize that when I first started blogging.

Well, that’s part of the reason why I wrote this post. To keep others from making that same mistake.

It’s close to the weekend at your neck of the woods. So have a great one!!

Thanks for coming by!

Hi Susan,

Thanks for stopping by and leaving your thoughts!

I agree, backlinks are great. Especially those from highly recognized sites.

I’ve been working on my Alexa ranking for the past 5 months and it’s paying off.

By the way, thank you again for featuring my blog on http://www.EnerjizedLife.com Your kindness is truly appreciated!

Have an awesome evening!

I love backlinks on other blogs and my own just because it gives that extra “oompf”.

Not only can you gain a backlink but you can directly show what you’ve written about. Bonus points when you comment a blog post where you wrote one that compliments it.

For example, if someone wrote a blog post about teaching a dog to fetch, you comment and yours is about teaching a dog to sit – the readers would say “ooh, this is really relevant!” and visit your site.

Yep, relevant comments are always great as are comments that continue the conversation.

I hadn’t realized the value of backlinks until just recently. Guess we all learn from each other, huh?

Have an awesome weekend!

As always Ilka, God bless you and those hard working marketers.
