Want To Become A Successful Network Marketer? – Then There’s No Easy Way Out!

There's no easy way out! Just Do It!!

When I was 17 years old I was shipped off to a health resort in Germany for a Kneipp Cure, a hydropathic treatment combined with diet and rest etc. The main purpose, besides getting my circulation going and raising my blood pressure, was to fatten me up a bit as I was skinny as a rail.

While the thought of not having to go to work for 6 weeks was rather pleasing to me, the thought of the treatment wasn’t so much. What teenager likes to get up before 7 o’clock in the morning to get shot with a water hose of hot and cold water? The first blast I ever received knocked me clear in to the wall behind me. They had to turn that thing down a couple of nudges. What in the world were they thinking in the first place? That skinny little thing they were hosing down didn’t even weigh 100 pounds.

But the water treatment wasn’t the worst thing.

No sir! Not by a long shot.  And neither was having to lay in bed with a sack full of hot hay on my chest in the middle of summer. (No air conditioning at that place by the way.)

No, breakfast clearly took the number one spot on my list of dislikes while I was there.

Every morning I had to eat a bowl of oatmeal before I was served anything else. I hated oatmeal. And after two weeks of being the ‘good girl’ I just had enough. I came up with the brilliant idea that, if I just didn’t show up for breakfast, I didn’t have to eat that oatmeal. Sounds logical, doesn’t it?

Well, I wasn’t as smart as I thought.

By skipping breakfast altogether, I was absolutely starving when it was getting close to lunch time. I couldn’t wait to get some food into my stomach. I was really looking forward to lunch.

And guess what was on my own personal menu ….

You guessed it. My bowl of oatmeal from that morning was waiting for me right there on the table. And … instead of being nice and hot… it was ice cold. OUCH!

I ate it. Not that I would have had a choice in the matter. And I ate it every morning after that. Looking back, that oatmeal was part of my treatment. It did help me gain a few pounds while I was there at that resort in the middle of nowhere.

This experience taught me a very valuable lesson…There is no easy way out!

How does that relate to network marketing?

Well, I could list at least a few things I don’t like to do very much. But I do them anyway because they are part of the essentials to building my network marketing business. I have to do those tasks in order for my business to grow and move forward. I do those things today so that I can live a better life tomorrow. I do them for my family. My husband. My kids.

There is no easy way out!

“I do today what others don’t so I can live tomorrow like others won’t.”

I’m almost sure there are some things in your daily routine that you don’t like to do. But you do them, because you know they are “good for you.” Like to share them in the comments below?

Really great story Ilka,

We all have the things we don’t like to do. However if people could just “eat the frog” and get it over with, they could be done with it and on with the next thing.

I know. It’s easy to do, but it’s also easy not to do! :)

Have a great weekend,

Hi Jerome,

Yeah, you’re right about “eating that frog.” Lesson learned, haha.

Have a great weekend!

P.S. Seems you are the lucky one getting through. Everyone else who wanted to leave a comment got the dreadful 404 Error. I get it on your blog sometimes too. But then I just come back again later and it works again. Weird!!

Hi Ilka,

I just love reading your personal stories.

Success in network marketing, in anything as a matter of fact, is about sacrifice at the beginning so you can have the freedom after.

When I first started in MLM, in an giant of the industry, I heard a leader on stage say “There’s no short path. You gotta take your licks like everybody else.” And it’s so true.

Take care,
Wayne

Hi Wayne,

Thanks for your kind words!

Yes, we do make sacrifices. But we gladly make them because we know what’s waiting for us.

I love what you said about … “you’ve got to take your licks like everybody else.” So true! And boy, sometimes it really feels like “licks.”

Have a great week!

Ilka
