How Do You Build “Trust” With Your Prospect?

Building A Relationship of Trust With Your Prospects. “The more trustworthy you become, the more success you have the potential to achieve”  Jeffrey Gitomer

Ask any successful network marketer and they will tell you that the key ingredient to their success is TRUST.

Doesn’t that make total sense? Just think about yourself. Would you join or buy from anyone you don’t trust? Of course you wouldn’t.

So how do you go about gaining your prospects trust?

Here are some examples…

Take the focus off of yourself .

Build trust by showing a genuine interest in your prospects. Learn about them, their needs and wants by asking questions.

Make it personal.

In your conversations (especially on social media sites) talk about you not your business. People don’t like to be bombarded with info about your business. They want to learn about you as a person, your family, hobbies, etc. They want to find out if there is a connection.

Brand yourself as a leader.

Share your knowledge and expertise. Always give value. The more value you give freely and unconditionally, the more trust you gain back.

Don’t act like a hunter.

Leaders don’t chase prospects. They wait for the prospect to come to them. Wouldn’t it be great if your prospects would come to you asking if they could join your opportunity? This only happens if they completely trust you. So always build trust first.

Be available.

Nothing is more frustrating to a prospect as if they have to wait for the answers of their questions. Make sure you are readily available. Answer emails or phone calls within 24hours. 48 hours absolute maximum.

Never over-promise and under-deliver.

Be true to your word. Say what you will do and then do what you say.

Remember, know, like trust and  that trust doesn’t stop once your prospects join you in your network marketing business. Au contraire.  Now begins the real test. Will you be there for your prospects to teach them the ropes and support them in their business so they can become successful in reaching their goals? You become responsible for them as soon as they join with you. But that doesn’t mean holding their hands all the way through. Well, that’s a topic for another post.

Hi Ilka,

Oh yes, trust is a big deal! It doesn’t happen overnight either. Especially with all the smoke and mirrors out there right now!

Letting people get to know you is important, getting to know them in return is even more important.

Have a blessed day!

Hi Susanna,

I totally agree with you. It’s not about us … It’s ALL about them.

Trust is a very fragile thing too. So once we gained it we have to protect it.

Have an awesome day!

Hi Ilka!

Make it personal…that’s why I dropped my other FB acct.. It wasn’t personal from the standpoint of the majority of my friends. It was all biz.

That’s why I decided to drop the “biz” one and use my personal one I’ve had for a couple of years. My old friends and former co-workers are on there, so that way, I can be comfortable, be myself and new people get to get a better sense of who I really am.

As far as keeping your promise, nothing irritates me more than people who sign up new distributors then never keep in contact! That is just wrong on every level!

Great Post ~

Hi Twila,

Thanks for coming by! I really appreciate your comments as I have been struggling with a love/hate relationship with Facebook lately.

I wish you could have two accounts. One for family and one for business. Oh well!

Enjoy your evening. Sounds like you had quite a day.

Hey Ilka,

Awesome job!

I love that…Take focus of yourself! This is so important if you really want to help bring out the best in people. You have to put your focus on them.

Leaders are always giving and providing value. You have to be selfless.

Chat with you later…

Hi Josh,

By putting the focus on others and helping them achieve their goals eventually we reach our own.

How does that famous Zig Ziglar quote go? …

“You will get all you want in life by helping enough people get what they want.”

AMEN to that!

Have an awesome night!

Hey Ilka

For trust to develop people have to get to know you.

I do this by being very open with what I am thinking and going through.

On my blog I make people feel welcomed and relaxed and let them get to see that we all have struggles.

Once they feel comfy they are more open to letting the trust juice flow between us.

Hi Melisa,

I couldn’t agree with you more. It’s not about US. It’s totally about THEM.

Make it a great day!

Hi Ilka,

Great post! For me trust is all about feeling safe with someone and that can take a little or a long time so I always let it take its own course with others too.

Cheers

Hi Marcus,

I agree, everyone is different. There are some people we feel an immediate connection with. Others may take a bit longer.

For example: I’m originally from Bavaria, the southern part of Germany. Usually people are quite friendly down there.

Up north it’s a different story. People are a bit more reserved. However, once you have managed to make them your friends, they’ll be your friend forever.

Make it an awesome day!

Dear Ilka,
Thanks for your great advice. Mine is and has been for years: “The product is not the product—you are the product!” This covers how important it is to make sure people buy YOU before they buy anything else. Greetings from Sweden!!! Bengt

Hi Bengt,

Great to ‘see’ you on my blog! :)

I agree with you 100%. It took me some time to realize that myself, but it is very true.

They also they, people join people, not companies.

Have an awesome day!

Ilka

P.S. It must be very beautiful up there right now. Watched a movie that was filmed in Sweden recently.
