Why You Should Surround Yourself With Successful People

Surround Yourself With Successful People With A Little Help From My Friends

My Mom always told me, …”Tell me who you hang out with and I tell you who you are”.

There’s also another saying that goes something like this … “Surround yourself with successful people and you yourself will become successful”.

If you want to learn how to become a champion golfer, you hang around people like Tiger Woods.

If you want to learn how to become a top notch business person, you hang with the likes of a Donald Trump.

If you want to become a world class network marketer you hang out at Jason Better’s blog and BetterNetworker.com.

And that’s exactly what I have done.

As a network marketer we wear many different hats and we have to accomplish many different tasks. Especially if we market on the internet, there’s just so much to learn. We can’t be experts in everything, so the next best thing is to hang around people who are.

Part of marketing online these days involves blogging. If done correctly, it can result in new leads and/or referrals for your business. It’s not as easy as just setting up a blog and people magically appear. Nope. There’s a whole bunch more to it than that.

I had been blogging for a little while before I started visiting Jason Better’s blog on a regular basis. But what I soon found out was, that there was a group of very talented people who were regular visitors there like me, whom I could learn a great deal from.

Each one of these regular visitors has taught me something. These little pieces of knowledge when put together, made a very complex puzzle of online marketing much easier to understand.

For example, I learned about SEO (Search Engine Optimization) from Josh Garcia. Josh also shared a wealth of information about Facebook Marketing on his blog. Dubbed the “Comment Ninja” he’s an expert on commenting on blogs. His witty writing style keeps you coming back for more.

I am improving my copywriting skills with the help of Derek Alvarez. I always pick up some golden nuggets visiting his DriveTheLine.com blog. BTW, when you’re there, check out his wife, Monique’s videos.  They are Super!

Chris Owen keeps me inspired, makes me laugh and always leaves me some kind words of encouragement when he visits my blog. Here’s a person who’s been through a heck of a lot in his young life but he’s a true Go-Giver. You’ve got to check out his blog, ChrisOwenAcademy.com.  It will truly inspire you. Lately his beautiful wife, Tragena, is stealing the show over there though.

Dwayne Huggins is just simply amazing. A very talented young man who is eager to learn and put into immediate action what he’s learning and sharing it with others. Check out what he has to say about “The Betters”, Jason Better and The Better Networker.

Jerome Ratliff is always good for some sound advice on network marketing and some encouraging words. I love visiting his blog. His MaverickBusinessBlog.com is another great place for very valuable information.

Twila Jacobs. Gosh you’ve got to love her. Here’s a young mother who although very busy with a 4 year old whirlwind.  She still finds the time to fill me in on the Twitter Scene and other “Must Know” social media stuff.

Susanna Hess, my newest online friend, has a great writing style. Her videos are a must see. So make sure you stop by her blog.

Mitchell Dillman, my ‘neighbor to the south’ shares his knowledge about network marketing and I’m always learning something new there.

There are more cool people over there you’ll get to meet. Like Wayne Vassell, Eric McMillan, and Tommy DiPietro.

(I hope I didn’t forget anyone. I feel like I’m at the Academy Awards giving my acceptance speech in thanking everyone and they’re cutting me off, lol.)

These are the friends I’m hanging out with and learning from. It’s all about sharing what you know so others can learn from you and with you. I would have never met all these cool people had I not one day stopped over at JasonBetter.com and got hooked on all the valuable information there.

So if you find yourself navigating the hostile waters of network marketing in your canoe without a paddle, or if you are looking for some cool new friends to hang out with, come on over so we can lend a helping hand.

If you liked this post, don’t forget to re-tweet it and share it with your friends.

Hi Ilka,

It’s amazing how that works… I know what you mean, hanging out with all these talented people is such a blessing.

There is so much value given away, and it’s great that you give us all a place to look for it!

I can’t help but think, it’s not even just for business either. There are many life lessons, and just developing ourselves is worth the time to visit, read and learn, on top of the business benefit.

I LOVE what your mom used to tell you. I think I might have to start telling my boys that! ;)

Thank you so much for the mention! What a surprise. A great start to another beautiful day!

All the Best,

Susanna

Hi Susanna,

Yes, you’re right! It’s a blessing indeed. There’s so much talent there.

I totally agree, it’s not just about business. There are life lessons to be learned that you can apply anywhere.

You are very welcome about the mention, Susanna. You have a lot of value on your blog and people need to know about that.

As far as what my mom used to tell me, I have been passing that on to my boys. All we can do as moms is bring our kids up right, pass on our values and then … hope for the best :)

I’m really glad I met you, Susanna.

Best wishes to you and your family,

Ilka

Hi Ilka,

Wow, this is a really good post, this is why network marketers rule especially from the “Better Bunch”. All someone has to do is read this post and it is an education in itself.

Thank you for the pleasant surprise of mentioning me in your entry. I know it takes hard to work to get to the level of some of my peers in this Industry. Taking my shots and as I continue to learn especially with this group is an honor.

Have a great night and keep up the good work ;)

Have a great night as well,

Good evening Ilka!

You hit the nail on the head with this one girl!

I had started my blog, but was just at a loss as to what to do next.

Somehow, I wish I could remember how, I stumbled upon JB’s blog and all I can say is WOW! What I have learned from Jason and the group that hangs out there is incredible! I still have “to do” things that I have been taught by JB and visiting other blogs, that I haven’t gotten to yet, because there is so much value being passed around!

Thanks so much for the mention too! You’re a sweetheart!

It’s all about surrounding yourself with the right people. However, I think I’ll stay away from Tiger even though my swing needs some improvement ; )

Have a great evening!

Can’t remember either how I got on to JB’s blog. I think he sent out an email. I will be forever thankful to him for that. What a great guy! And what a great following he attracted. Talk about the “Law of Attraction.”WOW!

You have a great evening too!

Hi Mitchell,

Thanks for dropping in! Nice to see your smiling face here.

Yep, I have come a long way. But I couldn’t have done it without the great champions over at JB’s.

Love how you call it nerve center :) Still needs a bit of work. But I’m getting there.

CO Internet Marketers meeting, huh? Gotta check that out.

Have an awesome day!

Ilka

Hey Ilka,

It is important to be surrounded by winners. I feel very lucky to be surrounded by all the champs you mentioned above.

Putting yourself in areas that you know it’s going to stretch is vital in personal and business life success.

BTW…Thanks for adding me to this list of champions!

Chat with you later…

Hi Josh,

Indeed. And that’s what I’ve done. I surrounded myself with winners like yourself. People who help me grow. People who make me step out of my comfort zone and push a little harder.

And … you’re very welcome! You are a champion!

Have an awesome day!

Hey Ilka,

What gives? I dropped by for another great story and caught you writing about me and my friends.

Seriously, this is like the King post of community love. I don’t think I have seen a post from the JB arena yet with this many links out, and background info on each person.

Did you send in an entry for the Jason Better guest blogger? If you put one of your stories in it with a message that hits home for business people, you have a strong chance.

I see you took my advice with the email comments pluggin. Now we can all tell when your online….Big brother is watching you…LOL

For your information, I took back control of my site after Tragena’s post. She still holds one record, But I took back the rest. I bet you would get some of your records broken if Randy decided to write a post about getting his underwear ironed.

Good morning if it is morning,
Good evening if it is evening.

Hey Chris,

Alright! You caught me red-handed. By the way, that post was inspired by Dwayne who wrote a similar post last week. It totally compelled me to write this one and say “Thank You” to all my champs over at JBs.

Yes, I did sent an entry to Jason … last time though. He mentioned something if we sent one in last time, it’s still good. I may write another one for next time though.

Chris, I ALWAYS take your advice :)

Well, although you took back control of your site, I hope you give Tragena another chance to write in the near future. She’s a very good writer and she writes from the heart which I really like.

Oh, by the way, your last post made me cry. I’m just glad everything turned out well and I had a chance to get to ‘meet’ you. I hugged my boys a little tighter that day.

Thank you so much for your service!

Be blessed,

Ilka

P.S. Maybe I’ll let Randy write a guest post some day. Probably not about his underwear though, LOL.

Chris Owen Reply:

Yeah, I’m gonna let her come back. She gets one more chance, and if she makes me look bad again I’m gonna build her a separate site. LOL

I actually bought her the domain Tragena.com (wow the things you can do with an original name) and am going to build her a sight all her own. But the goal is for her to put one post a week up at COA.

You know, I was just looking, and realized that the reason that she took my comment record with that post, is because you commented five times. Not only that, but both of us replied to you. You guys set me up. I just know it.

I think it’s a fantastic idea of setting up a site for Tragena. She’s got a few fans already for sure. I’ll definitely be a regular.

Y’all have a fantastic day!

Hi Ilka

Surround yourself with great people and great things will happen.

Thanks for the mention and glad I can help.

You’re helping me too and I really do appreciate that.

For all of us, in order to get very good at what we do, we need to support one another by learning and teaching others what we learn.

It’s a fun business. In for the long haul.

Have an AWESOME day.

Yep, it’s a fun business. There’s nothing I’d rather do.
