Are You Sabotaging Your Own Network Marketing Success?

Success in network marketing starts (and ends) with YOU. Have you ever heard that?
If that is news to you, listen up.
Can you relate to this scenario?
You are doing everything your upline sponsor tells you to do. You are using the tools he or she recommends. You attend all company meetings and listen to every single conference call. Yet, … for some reason you don’t see the network marketing success you would like to have.
What’s wrong?
One important ingredient is missing. Actually, the most important ingredient is missing.
Neither systems , tools and conference calls nor company meetings are building your success. They do help considerably and are very important, don’t get me wrong, but unless you add the most important ingredient you will never see the success in network marketing you could have.
This one missing ingredient is … YOU!
Plain and simple!
It’s YOU and what you are THINKING.
Do you have doubts about your products? The comp plan? The company? Doubts about your own ability to succeed? Fear of failure? Fear of success? Maybe you are afraid of your own courage?
If you have a case of “Stinkin’ Thinkin,” get rid of it. Stop sabotaging your own network marketing success!
I am just re-reading “Think And Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill and in the book he states …
“Both Poverty and Riches are the Offspring of Thought”
Think about this for a minute. That’s very a powerful statement!
If this is true, than that would mean that you can think yourself into poverty or you can think yourself into riches. Which would you choose?
Well, I know which way I would go.
In chapter 3, Napoleon Hill talks about “The Law of Autosuggestion.”
“The subconscious mind makes no distinction between constructive and destructive thought impulses. It works with the material we feed it, through our thought impulses. The subconscious mind will translate into reality a thought driven by fear just as readily as it will translate into reality a thought driven by courage or faith.
…If you fill your mind with fear, doubt and unbelief in your ability to connect with and use the forces of Infinite Intelligence, the law of autosuggestion will take this spirit of unbelief and use it as a pattern by which your subconscious mind will translate it into its physical equivalent.“
Wow! Pretty scary stuff, huh? So, be very careful what you think.
I would like to close with a poem that describes the law of autosuggestion very well…
“If you think you are beaten, you are,
If you think you dare not, you don’t
If you like to win, but you think you can’t,
It is almost certain you won’t.
“If you think you’ll lose, you’re lost
For out of the world we find,
Success begins with a fellow’s will—
It’s all in the state of mind.
“If you think you are outclassed, you are,
You’ve got to think high to rise,
You’ve got to be sure of yourself before
You can ever win a prize.
“Life’s battles don’t always go
To the stronger or faster man,
But soon or late the man who wins
Is the man WHO THINKS HE CAN!”
Napoleon Hill, “Think & Grow Rich
Think POSITIVE!
Success in network marketing can be yours if you can adjust your thinking. When you get a case of “stinkin’ thinkin”, which we all do at times, get rid of it immediately and change your negative thoughts into positive ones. You do have a choice.
When I get down and negative thoughts creep into my mind, I get away from it all. I do something fun and uplifting. Sometimes I go for a walk. Doodle a while in PhotoShop or listen to upbeat music. Or I read a few pages in a book. (Hint: Think & Grow Rich is a great one.) Or I take a shower and wash those negative thoughts right out of my mind.
To your Network Marketing Success!

Hi Ilka,
I was just reading Think And Grow Rich the other night, the same exact chapter, great stuff!
For quite a while I was doing all the right things but my thoughts and feelings were not in alignment with my actions because I was not prospering. By keeping myself in a high level of vibration when negative thinking enters my mind – as you mentioned – I’ve been able to gradually dissolve these blockages so that success flowed to me more freely.
Thanks for sharing Ilka

Hi Ryan,
How funny! Well, you know what they say about ‘great minds’, lol.
Boy, I know exactly what you are talking about. It’s definitely not easy to rid yourself of that negativity. It takes some conscious effort.
By the way, I really enjoy reading your blog posts. Keep them coming!

Hi Ilka,
Yes, our thoughts are the offspring of any our results in life. Sometimes we have negative thoughts, everyone if us. I find it’s essential that we don’t amplify them, we need to treat ourselves kindly and we shouldn’t beat ourselves up or even feel guilty about our negative thoughts.
Thanks for reminding us of Mr. Hill’s great book.
Take care

Hi Oliver,
You are absolutely right! Great point about not amplifying our negative thoughts. The more we focus on them the more we do though

Ilka I think this is the area most people and especially most marketers fail. They get so caught up in the how (product, training etc.,etc.) that they forget about the power they have to affect their success. We are creators we create it all good and bad with the thoughts we entertain most of the time. I think the right attitude and mindset will lead you to take the right types of action to succeed at whatever you do.

Hi Steve,
I agree! You said it, … “we are creators.”
I can’t remember who said it, (just kidding) but it goes like this…
“Whatever the mind can conceive and believe it can achieve.” Or something like that.
Great point! Thanks for sharing it!

Hey Ilka
Interesting post and if someone is reading this and has not read “Think and Grow Rich” then what are you waiting for.
It is okay to have negative thoughts, we all do. What is important is how we deal with them. Going back to reread TAGR always helps.
Thanks Ilka.

Hi Peter,
You are right. Everyone has negative thoughts every once in awhile. Not to dwell on them is key.
Lots of wisdom in “Think & Grow Rich.”

Very thought provoking, Ilka.
Sounds a lot like me with my first company.
I think they main problem here is that most folks will leave their dream of a successful online business before they ever learn what that missing ingredient is.
We are so ready to buy into a “system” and “duplication”. It’s easy – we are told. And the second we learn we have to do something above and beyond, like say grow as leaders, we run.
Great food for thought, Ilka.

Hi Ana,
You have a great point, saying that a lot of people will quit before realizing it is THEM that’s missing. That’s why personal development is so very important.
The FIRST thing we have to work on is ourselves, before we start working our business….And then keep adding to it.
Thanks for your great comment!

Greak post Ilka! All I gotta say is wow. As a matter of fact I’m currently writing post on this same subject lol…I’m just taking a break now. But it’s true, it all starts with you. A lot of people have all the tools and gadgets, but no success in the business. Why is that? Well like you said here, it all starts with YOU!! If you don’t have the PMA then you’re not going to go anywhere in your business. Stick with personal development and positive thinking and you’ll be on your way.
Thanks for sharing

Absolutely! Keep that PMA … Positive Mental Attitude!

Hi Ilka,
Excellent post! You’re right on about success starting with YOU. If you don’t invest in you and develop you into a leader, it’s always challenging to implement anything outside of you to any level of success. Success starts from the inside … that applies to personal life too, don’t you think?

I’ve never been huge on personal development but lately I have been telling myself that what I do is worth it and I am successful.
