Rinse and Repeat Formula for Successful Network Marketing Business

"Rinse and Repeat" Formula for a Successful Network Marketing Business

So, just what is this formula for a successful network marketing business?

It’s been said, that our habits predict our future. I believe that to be true. How about you?

Have you ever noticed that the more you do something the better you get at doing it? You can take anything in life and you will see that there is actually some truth to it.

Remember when you first learned to ride a bike?

You were wobbly. You knuckles turned white because you were holding on to those handle bars for dear life. You prayed that your dad (or mom, or whoever was holding on to the bike to keep you stable and give you support) wouldn’t let go.

You practiced every day and every day you got better. And then came the day when you were practicing again, and you turned around and there was nobody holding on to you anymore. You were riding that bike all by yourself.

At first that scared you and may have caused you into ‘wobbling mode’ for just a few seconds. But then you regained your confidence and you were enjoying the ride. A proud feeling of accomplishment came over you. You did it!

Now when you get on a bike you don’t even think about what you are doing. It’s just automatic.

It can be the same in your network marketing business.

You may be totally overwhelmed, pulled into different directions. Everybody and their brother telling you what to do and how to do it. (You’re in wobbling mode.)

But when you get really down to it, it’s quite simple. Just like riding a bike. Focus on the basics.

There are certain tasks that you must accomplish every day in order to reach your goal of running a successful network marketing business. Some of them may be new to you and may require a certain amount of practice. But by practicing them every day, you will get better.

“Repetition is the mother of learning, the father of action, which makes it the architect of accomplishment.” ~ Zig Ziglar

So what’s the formula for a successful network marketing business?

  1. Identify the tasks you absolutely have to do every day in order to move your business forward.
  2. Do them in order of priority. (Life happens, so do the most important tasks first, just in case.)
  3. Practice those tasks that need perfecting.
  4. Rinse and repeat

Stick to that formula no matter what. Put your blinders on if you have to in order to keep from getting distracted. I know there are many distractions out there. All I have to do is open my email inbox and there are tons of them…But…

Repeating important activities that move your business forward on a daily basis is the key to a successful network marketing business.

They say it takes 21 days to form a habit.

I don’t know how they came up with 21 days but it seems to work. So write down what you need to do every day. Do it for 21 days and see what happens. (Of course keep going after that.) There is power in positive habits.

Just keep your focus right on your target and you will get there.

Bye for now, I’ve got to go do some rinsing and repeating.

Would you believe that “The Slight Edge” is one of my favorite books? Funny you should mention it. But as they say…”Great minds think alike.”

developing successful habits. When I was first told this it was like an ah ha moment.

I went on to develop a fair few successful habits, some big some small, but they all add up to growing success.

I view repetition as bringing me closer to perfection. There is know other way to get there.

Simplicity is the key. Nothing in this business needs to complex. Keep it simple, work it steady.

Love the Zig Ziglar quote.

Hi Ilka,

I like how you mentioned to put your blinders on, a great visual and oh so powerful. It’s been the #1 habit which I’ve had to work on.

My routine is down pat but sticking to it by avoiding the many distractions that the day brings has been a chore.

Now I don’t even look at my phone or check emails until mid-afternoon or evening. I churn out content, network then proceed to respond to phone calls, emails and comments.

Thanks for sharing your insight :)

Hi Ryan,

I can relate to the “sticking to it” part. It’s very hard, but the only way if you want o reach your goal.

I have my office downstairs where all the “family action” happens. So I literally have to close my door and tell everyone “when the door is closed, don’t come in.” Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t.

Thanks for stopping by, Ryan, and for your great comment!

Hey Ilka

I do not know where they come up with that 21 day rule on building habits, but I can attest to it as it has worked a number of times on me.

But what I am wondering is why it takes the full 21 days for good habits and only 2 days for bad ones :)

Hi Peter,

That is an awesome questions! Unfortunately I don’t have the answer. Maybe it is because there is always some “work” involved in good habits and “pleasure, fun, or laziness in bad habits?

Ilka,

This is my second attempt to leave a comment. I think I am having technical difficulties!

I have read this article twice and gleaned new information each time.

This is great information for someone like me who likes to jump all over the place :)

Warmly,

Hi Susan,

I can relate to ‘jumping all over the place’ too. However, as you can attest, that doesn’t get you anywhere. So now I try very hard to keep focused. That means letting go of some things or putting time limits on such activities as social networking and forums, reading emails, etc. Those are all ‘time suckers.’ :)

Just keep your eye on the prize, Susan, on you’ll get there.

Thanks for dropping in! Always love to read your comments.

P.S. Sorry you were having problems posting your comment. Sometimes it’s the CAPTCHA. If you don’t get it exactly right it gives you trouble.

Hi Ilka,

Practice indeed makes perfect! I liked the way you referenced the rinse and repeat process of shampooing to network marketing! (this is proof that creative, catchy titles always get read!)

Work everyday can be a routine, but here’s what I do: I do the more difficult or challenging tasks in the morning and the lighter, easier ones later in the day. always works well for me! What about you?

There are days when it’s tempting to jump all over the place and do several things at the same time but then again, as you’ve said, focus, focus, focus.

Great post, thanks for the advice!

Hi Elmar,

I do the same thing you do. I do the more challenging and difficult tasks in the morning when my mind is still fresh and the rest later in the day.

Also on days, when I absolutely can’t focus no matter how hard I try, I do tasks that require ‘no thinking.’ Like updating my database, or working on images for campaigns for example.

Thanks for stopping by again and for your great comment!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Hey Ilka,

Great analogy here! I didn’t know it took 21 days to form a habit. You learn something new everyday which is great. Thanks for sharing this!
