7 Reasons Why Women Make Natural Network Marketers

Why are there so many women in network marketing?
Good question! According to the Direct Selling Association about 82% of network marketers are women.
Is that surprising? No, not really. When you really think about it then it actually makes a lot of sense. Why is that?
Are women just better networkers?
Well, they do have some advantages over their male counterparts.
Here are just 7 advantages women have over men in network marketing. I’m sure there are quite a few more…
1) Women want to stay home with their kids
This is probably the number one reason why there are so many women in network marketing. Moms want to stay home with their kids. They don’t want them to be raised by nannies or grow up in day care. They don’t want to miss out on those all important ‘firsts’ in their children’s lives. At the same time, stay-at-home moms want to contribute to the family finances.
2) Nurturing instinct
Women are natural nurturers. They want the best for their families. They make the purchasing decisions in their household and know quality whey they see it. They are also very community oriented.
3) Better Networkers
Network marketing is a people business. It’s based on building strong customer relationships. Women know the importance of relationship building in business. They are great listeners and have a natural ability to relate to other women’s situations which helps them to understand and meet their customers’ needs.
4) Better Communicators
Women share information all the time. Think about it? What group of population talks more to each other. There are school get-togethers, kids sporting events, scout meetings, birthday parties, luncheons. There’s always an opportunity to talk and build new business relationships.
5) Equal Playing Field
Network marketing offers and equal playing field for men and women. Equal pay for equal work and no glass ceiling. It’s not like that in the corporate world. Women are still at a disadvantage in the corporate world. They are neither treated the same nor is there equal pay for men and women .
6) Multi-Tasking
Women are great multi-taskers. They have the ability to focus on more than one task which is a great skill to have running a busy network marketing business.
7) Security
Women want security for their families. There has been no such thing as job security for quite some time now and women are usually the first to lose their jobs. Network marketing offers a “Plan B”, a security blanket for if the unthinkable should happen. A home business can be started part-time while still being employed.
So, there you have them, the 7 advantages women in network marketing have over men.
If you can think of any more, please share them with us below in the comment box.

Ilka,
It was only a few weeks ago that someone informed me about the disproportionate number of women in Network Marketing…I had no idea. I like to think of it as a new suffragette movement . When more women realize the power that they hold, I’m sure we will see a greater number of women leaders in this industry.
Cheers!

Hi Karen,
Yes, the number is really astounding. But at the same token, it makes total sense, doesn’t it?
Here’s to all the women in this industry … Girl Power!!

OK, What I am supposed to do- Like it or Not? Are women going to put me out of business?
Well, Ilka you did a great job! Even thou you praising the women I still liked the article…
I am happy for all women who are doing what ever they can in their abilities.
To tell you the truth I admire the women for who they are, there is no reason fro me not to. God created them so the earth will be filled with a lot of unique roses!

Hi Slavik,
Thanks for stopping by and leaving your thoughts!
Don’t panic. Although we women are in the majority in this industry will never put you out of business. Au contraire. We are helping you grow it. Be glad
The more women you have on your team the better off you are.
Loved how you said … “God created them (women) so the earth will be filled with a lot of unique roses.” Awe, how nice!
Have an awesome week!

Hi Ilka,
I guess I always knew we outnumbered the men, but at the same time never really gave it much thought as to why.
I think you hit some excellent points there.

Ilka,
When I first started and was not doing well. I always thought, my entire team were women. Is it because I am a guy that none of these lady prospects want to work with me.
I really didn’t understand why I felt that way and your numbers says it all.
Multi-Tasking is something I will never get. My wife says I can’t and as hard as I try, still can’t get it.
Have a great night!

Don’t worry about the multi-tasking. Guys just aren’t wired that way. Randy can’t even walk and chew gum at the same time

Hey Ilka,
You’re right women are natural born networkers
All 7 are true…if I added one it would be…
Intuition!
women were born with it, men were not
To give the guys a little credit. They’re great with all the technical stuff.

Tragena,
Whoohoo! Your comment made it through.
You’re right about intuition. Women just know what to do or say in certain situations. They also know when to shut up and listen
I’m really glad you gave the guys some credit. What would we do without them when it comes to the technical stuff?
You and Chris have a wonderful week too!

Oh Ilka,
You hit the “mother” load, pun intended.
I have to agree with you here, a lot of women do make natural network marketers.
Just to show, most of my team is women. If that’s not an indication, I’m not sure what is.
By the way, I like #3.

Hey Jerome,
Loved your pun
And indeed it has to do with mothering. That’s just the way we women are wired.
I’m really not surprised that your team consist mostly of women. And, since women are great networkers it will only grow. (Maybe I shouldn’t say this out loud, but women always join other women.)
There are even social networks now that are (just for)women. (Although men do join them as well.)
Anyway, thanks for leaving me your thoughts, Jerome.
Have an awesome day!

I do have to say this post was very eye opening but true. Many women have a better ability to teach people things, and in this business it helps to be able to coach and mentor. When you coach and mentor and give 110 percent it pays off for you in so many ways. Thank you for the great post!

Hi Ilka,
That is a big difference, as far as numbers go.
To give men credit though, they often seem to make money faster.
I think because they are generally more goal and numbers oriented. Women can get really wrapped up with close relationships, and forget to go out and keep making new ones.
Great post!

Your post makes sense Ilka but I have often wondered why there are not more women leaders in the Mike Dillard class.
I know there are a good many women leaders but I am referring to top high profilers. Thinking about it right now I can can only come up with two names – Ann Sieg and Katie Freiling or am I missing some others?

Oh Ilka, that is just what my wife tells me. Honey, says my lovely wife, we can always focus at the same time in more tasks, and still make better.
But you, my dear husband, start with one action and go crazy.
Well, I think, that is why I love my wife.
As always, God bless you and bless all those hard working marketers, men and women.

Ilka, this is a great topic! I’m not surprised by the women to men ratio…there are just simply more women period…so why not in network marketing?
As I look at the list I can generally agree. My wife has provided me with insights that were not ‘natural’ for me.
There will always be comparisons between men and women. But let me say this…
Thank God for the differences.
BTW: #5 Is by far the most important item on the list, in my opinion.
Great post!
Have a Great day!

Hi James,
Thanks! Haha, I agree, thank God for the differences. Or as the French say “Vive la différence!”
Men are good in many other areas and that’s a good thing. There has to be kind of a balance.
So, men might not be ‘natural networkers’ but most of them are great with the technical stuff. So it evens out.
I agree on #5. There should be equal pay for equal work. Even out there in the corporate world.
Enjoy your evening!

Ilka,
Interesting and valid points your bring up and i can see that in many of the women partners i have but #6 i can see it as many do but some also have trouble keeping on track as do men as we had a call on Friday and few women brought up it was one of the areas they struggle with in doing a challenge which was discussion on our call. Look forward to reading more!

I totally agree with your reasons. As a full time stay at home mom, I love building my business NWM style because it gives me a discount on products I use everyday to keep me and my family fit and healthy. Plus, the government then gives me the opportunity to write off these things on my end of the year taxes. It’s a totally winning situation to build my business this way. It gives the flexibility to build a business while being a mom, it’s low cost to start and the monthly expenses are low…. The more I learn about NWM, the more I am glad I have joined this way of life, of business.

Hi Mirdza,
Network marketing is ideal for moms as they love the fact that they can build their business around taking care of the family.
They are natural ‘bargain hunters’ (I should have added that) always on the lookout for the best deals for their family.
And, you brought up another great point… tax advantages.
Thanks for stopping by!
Have an awesome evening!

A business partner of mine tagged me in this post on Facebook – just a simple glance through my page, & the 200+ videos posted, and you’ll see I am completely SOLD OUT on the industry.
10 months ago I was a “struggling speaker” living off payday loans w/no payday facing eviction, repossession and all kinds of “notices” then I noticed my current company OrGano Gold and after a 3 year break dove into the industry again never to look back. 10 months later I’m now giving loans vs living off them, retiring my recently widowed mother soon, and taking a trip to Hawaii w/my free friends this month.
There’s NOTHING like network marketing, mlm, referral marketing, direct marketing etc…call it what you want! LOL I call it my freedom platform! Once you become a student of the industry you truly realize this is the place for an EAGLE to truly soar.
To the top!

When it comes to women, they can reach men and women in a way that men can’t which is why I cater more to women in my business.
Men have trouble enrolling men more times than not because of ego.
Men have trouble enrolling women because of the woman’s fear of the ulterior motive.
Women on the other can relate and open up to other women with no problem or concerns of “He’s hitting on me” …
Women can also persuade men to show to events because men will do anythng to please women…
Keep in mind, i’m not saying that this is the case 100% of the time, but it is more times than not.

I actually agree with Macus’s comment. Network marketing does seem to be a great match for women; however, most successful marketers are men.
I am planning on breaking that trend by the way; are you with me?:)
